2010 NFL Playoff Picks: Conference Championship Writer Picks
We thought the Wild Card round was tricky and full of surprises. Then we get to the divisional round, and the up-start Seattle Seahawks fall flat, the New England Patriots don’t bring their ‘A’ game, and the Green Bay Packers destroy the Atlanta Falcons.
No, we didn’t forget about the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, as they provided the only game that lived right up to expectations.
However, regardless of how the divisional round games went, it’s clear that the four teams remaining in the race for the Super Bowl belong in this tournament. Take a look at who our writers are picking to move on and compete in the Super Bowl.

Breakdown:Chris: In my mind the Packers are the best team left in the playoffs, and were a few injuries away from the #1 seed, but honestly I think they are a better team for it. Kevin: Did you SEE Green Bay last week? I’m not worried about them on the road against the Bears… Taylor: Given the Packers’ hype, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the Bears go out and beat them. However, I’m not picking against A-Rod. Keet: I’m sticking with the Packers who just keep making plays and playing great defense. Cutler will struggle here. |

Breakdown:Chris: The Jets beat the Patriots with their coverage, but the Steelers are a different type of team and I think the Jets will struggle against them after playing the pass heavy offenses of the Colts and Patriots. Kevin: I don’t think New York is the better team, but they’re a lucky team. Somehow, some way, they’re going to the Super Bowl. Taylor: I picked the Steelers on the Weekly Dish, and the Jets here. Either way, I win. Also, I lose. D’oh! Keet: I’d be greatly surprised to see Mark Sanchez put together a three touchdown performance against a veteran defense that plays with very few mistakes. |

6-2 is pretty damn impressive for the NFL Playoffs, if you ask me. Keet, how do you make your predictions, and how confident are you in Green Bay and Pittsburgh this week? I got money riding on these games : )
Ben, I’ve just made a late season surge in both the regular season and the playoffs. I don’t really have a true method to my madness, but I do try and break down the individual matchups as well as possible. Flacco vs. Big Ben Ravens Rush O vs. Steelers Rush D Green Bay Pass O vs. ATL Pass D Aaron Rodgers vs. Matt Ryan Something like that. I try to play the trends and what not as well, but these games are so close that I could easily be 2-6 right now. That being said, for this week: Mark Sanchez vs. Big Ben- Edge to Big Ben for playoff experience (despite Sanchez’s impressive 4-1 record, and on the road) NYJ Rush O vs. Steelers Rush D- Edge Steelers New England’s young inexperienced defense vs. Steelers experienced, veteran defense and pass rush I think Mark Sanchez really does have a rough game this week, although Pitt’s secondary isn’t anything to write home about. Despite Darrelle Revis most likely covering Mike Wallace, the Steelers still have Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Emmanuel Sanders and even Antonio Brown to throw to. The Packers over the Bears is mostly based on Cutler’s inconsistency, and the Bears weak secondary. The Packers should win by no less than a TD, IMO.
