2010 NFL Trade Rumor: Miami Dolphins Shopping Ted Ginn
According to NFL.com‘s Jason LaCanfora, the Miami Dolphins are reportedly shopping wide receiver and return man, Tedd Ginn.
Ginn, who was drafted three years ago to emerge as an elite number one receiver, regressed in his third season (when most receivers break-out), and has had an overall disappointing tenure with the Dolphins.
He’s been on the “outs” with Miami ever since not completely taking over the top receiver spot early in 2009, and appears to finally be on the move.
While Ginn still packs a punch as an electrifying return man and still has the speed and potential to make it in the NFL, he has not lived up to expectations, while slipping behind supposedly lesser talents such as GregCamarillo, Brian Hartline, and Davone Bess.
There have even been rumors that the Dolphins are contemplating using their first-round draft pick in this month’s NFL Draft on a star receiver. However, based on their lack of success at the position (Ginn), many draft experts feel it’d be a bad move.
Ginn has been riddled with nagging injuries, bad drops, and inconsistent route-running throughout his three-year career, failing to register one 1,000-yard season, and never scoring more than two receiving touchdowns in a single season.
Instead of establishing himself as a legit threat at receiver, Ginn has only made a name for himself as a situational receiver and return man, facts that may have him finding it difficult to make a significant impact, regardless of where he’s traded.
Receiver-needy teams such as the Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, St. Louis Rams, and Carolina Panthers could take a chance on Ginn’s potential, rather than opt for a high draft pick at receiver, or paying big money for a marquee player.
