2010 NFL Trade Rumors: Eight Guys Who Could Be On The Move 

With less than full 12 days separating NFL fans from their respective team’s first decisions in the 2010 NFL Draft, rumors are starting to fly at a remarkably high rate.

 

In the wake of the “trade heard round the world” that sent Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins, we all have quickly learned that anything is possible, and things are rarely as they seem to be.

All of that nonsense that the Eagles were pushing about not shopping their quarterbacks has ended up being a “saving face” approach, and now the ugly side of the business has reared it’s head, once again, and place more marquee players in front of the reeling train that is the NFL trade rumor scene.

Read on for the top eight guys that could be on the move before, during, or after the NFL Draft:

Jason Campbell, QB, Washington Redskins

He by no means comes in first on this list, but with McNabb being added to his team, Campbell is almost certainly on his way out.

The asking price for the former Auburn signal caller has to have dropped way down, but Campbell can still bet to be a piece of an NFL Draft-day trade.

Possible Destinations: Buffalo, St. Louis, Oakland

Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Just like with McNabb, the Eagles’ brass has continued to deny Vick’s availability, likely to up the price, or again, just to save face until a decision is made.

Regardless of what Philadelphia tries selling the public, Vick is on his way out. The Eagles will likely trying to get somewhere between a 3rd and 5th-round pick, along with another lesser quarterback to throw behind Kevin Kolb.

Possible Destinations: Buffalo, St. Louis, Oakland

Matt Hasselbeck, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Talks were quiet about Hasselbeck’s availability earlier in the off-season, but since Seattle landed Charlie Whitehurst, that’s starting to slowly change.

There’s been moderate speculation that Hasselbeck could be an option in Minnesota if Brett Favre doesn’t return (he will), while his status remains open until we hear different from the Seattle front office.

The feeling currently is that he’s the starter, but everyone knows Whitehurst isn’t there to be a back-up. At least, that’s not the plan.

Possible Destinations: Minnesota, Cleveland, St. Louis

Abert Haynesworth, DT, Washington Redskins

Rumor has it that Haynesworth was originally a possible piece that would have been included to land Donovan McNabb, but the Eagles reportedly didn’t want him.

As interesting as that may be, what’s even more interesting is the increasingly sensitive rumors that he could still be available.

After the Redskins landed him with a $100 million dollar deal last off-season, they are already starting to wonder if they over-paid (ya think?).

Regardless of this possible being so, Haynesworth is still regarded by many as the possible missing key to their defensive line, and former defensive coordinator (and now Detroit Lions head coach), Jim Schwartz is rumored to be interested.

Considering Shanahan has recently said he isn’t being shopped, I’m leaning towards Haynesworth sticking in Washington.

Possible Destinations: Detroit, and just about anyone willing to take on his fat contract

Clinton Portis, RB, Washington Redskins

I know, this should have been “top available Redskins players”, but Portis rounds out the last of the big-name Redskins players that are reportedly available (oh, and then there’s LaRon Landry).

After signing veteran backs Larry Johnson and Willie Parker, the message is clear from Mike Shanahan to Portis: adapt, or get out.

Portis needs to check his attitude and work ethic at the door and conform, or Shanny and co. will have no issues unloading him again.

Possible Destinations: New England, Cleveland, Detroit

Marshawn Lynch, RB, Buffalo Bills

Fred Jackson proved himself as the team’s potential franchise back last season, and Lynch’s character and mediocre play has finally added up to Buffalo being ready to move on.

Insert Chan Gailey and a new regime, and now Lynch’s days are numbered.

There haven’t been any clear front-runners, especially since Lynch isn’t even “officially” being marketed.

Possible Destinations: Cleveland, Detroit, Seattle

Brandon Marshall, WR, Denver Broncos

Marshall can be had right now by any team that wants to give up it’s first-round draft pick. Considering Seattle and San Francisco are the only teams with two picks in the first-round, they remain the most likely.

Denver probably doesn’t mind holding onto the talented Marshall another year if they have to, anyways, but the highest bidder will win the prize.

Rumors suggest Seattle is the one and only real suitor in this situation, while the New York Jets and Chicago Bears (who don’t have a first-round pick) have at least been rumored to be very interested.

Possible Destinations: Seattle, Chicago, New York

Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego Chargers

I don’t know why anyone seriously thinks the Chargers are going to let Jackson get away, as he’s their only dependable receiver, and easily their only flat-out play-maker on offense, outside of Antonio Gates.

He may be able to be had, but something tells me San Diego will still match just about any offer Jackson gets, and it’s very unlikely that they actually trade him.

Possible Destinations: Washington, Cleveland, New York
