2011 NFL Power Rankings | Week 16

2010 NFL Picks

What a week of NFL action we just saw. The Green Bay Packers’ bid for a perfect season ended, while the Indianapolis Colts’ awful losing streak was also snapped.

There will be no perfection at either end of the spectrum in 2011, but the Packers and Colts still don’t budge in our Week 16 NFL Power Rankings.

See where the other 30 teams rank for the week:

1. Green Bay Packers (13-1)

That was a pretty disappointing way to get their first loss, but it is what it is. Regardless, they’re still the best team in football.

2. New England Patriots (11-3)

Tom Brady and co. got past Tebowmania unscathed, just one more example of how they’re unlike most teams in the league.

3. New Orleans Saints (11-3)

Drew Brees is on pace to break Dan Marino’s single-season yardage record next week.

4.  San Francisco 49ers (11-3)

That’s a loud wind over the Steelers, regardless of how healthy Ben Roethlisberger was. This team believes it can win it all.

5. Baltimore Ravens (10-4)

I know the Chargers are desperate right now, but that simply wasn’t the look of an elite playoff defense. Or offense.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4)

Big Ben clearly wasn’t himself on MNF against the 49ers.

7. Houston Texans (10-4)

T.J. Yates just got exposed, folks.

8.  Atlanta Falcons (9-5)

Atlanta is quietly looking like a team you don’t want to run into in the NFC playoffs.

9. Detroit Lions (9-5)

That’s why they drafted Matthew Stafford. To win close games that need to be won. It’s become of his ability to will his team to victory at times that this Lions team could be headed to the playoffs.

10. Dallas Cowboys (8-6)

We can’t be sure what Dallas team will show up each week, but we do know that if it’s the one against the Buccaneers last week, they can be tough to beat.

11. Denver Broncos (8-6)

Tim Tebow continues to progress as a passer. If the Broncos beat the Bills and the Raiders lose, they’re in.

12. New York Jets (8-6)

Did they even show up against the Eagles? Didn’t seem like it to me.

13. New York Giants (7-7)

Everyone got giddy when they almost beat the Packers and then escaped against the Cowboys. If you ask me, a team that loses five of it’s last six games shouldn’t be in the playoffs.

14. Cincinnati Bengals (8-6)

They’re just getting by right now, but two wins to end the season could still get them in the playoffs.

15.  San Diego Chargers (7-7)

The December Chargers are in full force. Sure, it’s probably too little, too late, but it’s still fun to watch.

16.  Arizona Cardinals (7-7)

It happened late, but the Cardinals are still for real. They need the Lions or Falcons to lose out to have a chance, though.

17.   Seattle Seahawks (7-7)

I believe in Marshawn Lynch and “beast-mode”. I just don’t believe it continues on with a win against the 49ers.

18. Tennessee Titans (7-7)

If now isn’t the time to hand the keys to Jake Locker, then when?

19. Philadelphia Eagles (6-8)

Vick and co. are playing for next season, and probably for Andy Reid’s job.

20. Oakland Raiders (7-7)

They’ve lost four straight now. I don’t give them much of a chance on the road against a Chiefs team that just beat the Packers.

21.  Miami Dolphins (5-9)

Reggie Bush just ran for 200 yards. Yeah, that just happened.

22.  Washington Redskins (5-9)

I know the Redskins will probably draft their franchise quarterback in the 2012 NFL Draft, but something tells me the one they have now is already pretty good.

23. 2011 NFL DraftCarolina Panthers (5-9)

Cam Newton got his fifth win, which will only give him and his team more confidence. They’re really starting to look like a team to fear in 2012.

24.  Kansas City Chiefs (6-8)

Who would have thought that the Kyle Orton-led Chiefs would be the first team to beat the Packers?

25.  Chicago Bears (7-7)

Caleb Hanie is the sole reason this team isn’t a playoff contender anymore. If only those Brett Favre to Chicago rumors had been real…

26. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-10)

If Blaine Gabbert can let if fly and show significant progress in the final two weeks, then this mess of a season just might have been worth it.

27.  Buffalo Bills (5-9)

Make that seven straight losses. If it gets to nine straight, Chan Gailey has to go.

28.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-10)

There are so many things wrong with this football team, I just don’t know where to start. How about the coach?

29.   Cleveland Browns (4-10)

Cleveland continues to struggle on offense, even without Colt McCoy.

30.  Minnesota Vikings (2-12)

Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe felt that once the Saints got up on the Vikings, a lot of Minnesota players gave up. I’d have to agree.

31.  St. Louis Rams (2-12)

They hung in their with a pretty solid Bengals team, but there isn’t any easy way around it; the Rams stink.

32.  Indianapolis Colts (1-13)

They won! They won! They really won!
