2012 NFL Draft Rumors: Chargers Considering Trading Up For Mark Barron?
Alabama safety Mark Barron is hands down the best safety available in the 2012 NFL Draft. And while there are some quality secondary options at the position, it’s still not really very close as to who is the best one.
It’s Barron. Hands down.
So, it’s no surprise that just about everyone has the Dallas Cowboys taking him at the 14th spot (including me), due to their obvious need of a safety upgrade.
It should also be no surprise to anyone that some teams are considering trade up ahead of the Cowboys for a shot at drafting him, themselves.
You can throw the San Diego Chargers into that group.
According to Kevin Acee via Twitter, the Chargers “love” Barron, and have already “talked about” a potential trade that would give them a chance to land the Alabama star.
The Chargers locked-up stud free safety Eric Weddle in free agency last off-season. If they trade up and land Barron, they’d once again have an elite pairing at the two safety positions, with a chance at solidifying their secondary.
