2013 NFL Draft Rankings: Cornerbacks

The NFL is a passing league, and now it seems that you need two top tier corners to even come close to shutting guys like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers down.
Every team would love to have a corner on his own “island” like Darrelle Revis, but players like him do not enter every draft. Here is a look at the top cornerbacks from the 2013 NFL Draft class, along with some analysis:
1. Dee Milliner, Alabama
Fast corner that has progressed heavily since his sophomore campaign. One of the top players in the entire draft.
2. Xavier Rhodes, Florida State
Very quick corner that has excellent measurables and can excel in press coverage.
3. Desmond Trufant, Washington
Speedy corner that can match up with most in one on one coverage down field. Excellent closing speed and quick hips.
4. Jamar Taylor, Boise State
Another burner that has very quick hips and a solid back pedal.
5. Robert Alford, SE Louisiana
Will benefit from covering speedy guys, and may struggle against larger, more physical receivers. Excellent ball skills.
6. Blidi Wreh-Wilson, UConn
Long corner with quick footwork that benefits him when closing on the ball.
7. David Amerson, North Carolina State
Big and physical with excellent ball skills. Lack of quickness when flipping his hips and back pedal hurt him as a top corner.
8. Logan Ryan, Rutgers
Not a straight line burner, but hips and feet are quick enough to be a legit number two corner.
9. Johnny Adams, Michigan State
Struggles against larger receivers, but still puts up a good fight. Not afraid to be physical for a smaller guy with his speed.
10. Brandon McGee, Miami (Fl.)
Somewhat raw potential in McGee who has big time speed and very quick feet.
11. Johnthan Banks, Mississippi State
Quality corner prospect who had his stock crushed with a poor showing at the combine. Has a good skill-set and has potential at the next level.
12. Tyrann Mathieu, LSU
Fluid athlete with potential as a corner, but he’ll make his paycheck as a return man until he refines his fundamentals and learns the game better.
