2013 NFL Draft: Theo Riddick Scouting Report

Player Name: Theo Riddick

College: Notre Dame

Position: WR/RB

Height: 5’11″

Weight: 200 lbs.

STRENGTHS

Riddick was a tremendous asset for Notre Dame over his career. He is an extremely agile and gifted athlete with great speed and quickness. What Riddick brings to the table is versatility. He can line up in the backfield, slot or wide out. He can line up anywhere on the field and just be a matchup nightmare for a defense. He has great speed and vision out of the backfield. He can stop on a dime and make any defender miss with a multitude of moves. Couple that with reliable hands and he’s a very dangerous playmaker.

What also sets him apart is his knack for big plays. Riddick, on numerous occasions last year for Notre Dame, kept the Irish undefeated by making huge third and fourth down conversions by just never giving up on a play and being aware of what he needed to get to keep a drive alive. He’s smart and recognizes situations.

WEAKNESSES

The only true weakness I can see for Riddick in the NFL is a lack of size. He has played against tough competition in college but not week in and week out against the best of defenders. The only real question is durability and if his lack of size will have a negative impact. Not that he’s an every down guy but the frequent punishment could take a toll.

OVERALL

Riddick is a very dynamic player. He has a ton of upside due to his versatility. If I could compare him to a current NFL player I’d say Randall Cobb of Green Bay. Riddick might be a tad smaller but the style and ability is on par with Cobb. If I could take a stab at where Riddick might go I’d say Philadelphia in the second or third round. I could see Riddick being a Chip Kelly kinda guy.
