With Nate Burleson gone to Detroit and last year’s huge free agent acquisition (T.J. Houshmandzadeh) not panning out as planned, this could be the move that rounds out Seattle’s receiving corps and gets their offense back on track.
Reports suggest that Seattle is the front-runner to try to add Marshall, as owner Paul Allen has the “deep pockets” to land Marshall and sign him to a long-term deal.
However the road-block here seems to be the fact that Seattle just spent a bunch of money last season in trying up Houshmandazdeh.
The other concern is that in order to acquire Marshall, the Seahawks would have to give up a first-round pick. However, because they have two picks in the first round, this doesn’t appear to be as much of an issue as it would be for other teams.
The Baltimore Ravens are still said to be interested, but they could just as easily sign free agent Kevin Walter, bring back Derrick Mason, and/or draft a young receiver with their first round pick.
Seattle is now in a situation where they have money tied up in an aging and slow possession receiver, aren’t sure what they want to do with Deion Branch, and just saw Nate Burleson walk over to Detroit for big money.

The Seahawks are also said to be interested in landing a quarterback in the 2010 NFL Draft, and acquiring an ultra-talented receiver like Marshall could go a long way in speeding up the development of whichever passer they select.
In the interim, getting a big, reliable target like Marshall would immediately help Matt Hasselbeck (if he doesn’t get traded), and would likely shore up a receiving unit that would otherwise largely be in question.
Brandon Marshall is said to be slated to visit Seattle tomorrow, while the Seahawks already appear sold on signing the Pro Bowl receiver.
