Brett Favre to Chicago Bears?
According to ESPN Chicago, retired veteran quarterback Brett Favre would “listen to” the Chicago Bears if they contacted him about playing for the team.
Favre has reportedly been “staying in shape”, and would be interested in hearing Chicago’s “pitch” to get him to come finish the season with the 7-5 Bears.
Chicago recently lost starting quarterback Jay Cutler to a thumb injury, and have endured two losses with Caleb Hanie. Hanie has thrown six interceptions in his two starts, and Cutler is feared to be lost for the season, prompting speculation that Chicago could be interested in an upgrade at quarterback. Recently waived quarterback Donovan McNabb was the popular rumor, but now Favre’s name is being mentioned.
Favre is 42 and coming off of an injury-plagued season, but you can’t ignore the possible impact he could make. Losing Matt Forte is big for the offense, but they still have a few explosive weapons and a dominant defense. Who knows, maybe the Bears would even add Terrell Owens after bringing in Favre. The bottom line is, if this goes down, Favre needs to be owned in all leagues – even if it’s only as a stash item.
