Byron Leftwich Favorite to Open Season as Starter For Steelers

Byron Leftwich

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Byron Leftwich is the most likely option to start at quarterback for the first 4-6 weeks for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With experience and solid production as a former back-up and fill-in starter, Leftwich arguably possesses the best package of skills, leadership, and experience. Dennis Dixon may have more potential, and Charlie Batch may have more experience, but in the end, Leftwich looks to be the best overall option.

Fantasy Perspective: Schefter calls it Leftwich’s “job to lose”, and while we agree with that notion to an extent, we could see his status as the “proposed starter” changing quite quickly.

Our vote says Batch is out of the running, but Dixon’s athleticism and potential should be very tempting for Mike Tomlin and co. Consider Leftwich the starter until told otherwise, and avoid all Steelers passers until Big Ben is back in the saddle (or should we say if?).
