Cardinals Activate Beanie Wells From PUP List

Arizona Cardinals running back Chris “Beanie” Wells has reportedly been activated from the team’s active/PUP list and is practicing with the team on Tuesday, according to Kent Somers via Twitter.

Per Somers, Wells is just participating in the team’s walkthrough right now, and it’s unlikely he’ll be rushed back into anything too extreme in his first day back. His return is encouraging, but he is still less than 100%. However, the move means he cannot begin the season on the PUP list, which is great news.

Wells is not expected to play in Arizona’s second preseason game this Friday, but should make an appearance in their third game on August 17th. Backup running back Ryan Williams is also still rehabilitating his knee (patellar tendon), and is also a candidate to miss the team’s second preseason game.

Fantasy Analysis

He’s back, but he still needs to prove he’s at full strength. I’d really like to see him and Williams in a game or two before I can make any clear calls on their fantasy value for the year, and unfortunately that isn’t likely to happen until the middle of August. With that said, Wells being cleared to practice puts them on level ground, starting now.
