Cardinals Name Beanie Wells Starting Running Back

Wells returned with two scores to help fantasy owners in week 12.
According to Darren Urban via Twitter, the Arizona Cardinals have named Beanie Wells the starting running back for the 2011 NFL season.
Per Urban, Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt is fully backing Wells, saying, “To say that this is a make or break season is a little premature. But this is what he wanted. Clearly he is the guy”.
With the departure of Tim Hightower, Wells is the official starter, and will get the bulk of the carries over rookie back Ryan Williams.
Fantasy Analysis
We were extremely high on Ryan Williams (and still are), but this clearly lifts Wells’ fantasy stock considerably, and drops Williams down a peg or two. Wells is now a very solid RB2 candidate, but with injuries and inconsistency killing his first two seasons, we’re still skeptical. Keep Williams on your fantasy radar.
