Carlos Rogers Wants to be Back With 49ers in 2012

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v San Francisco 49ers

According to Matt Maiocco via Twitter, San Francisco 49ers cornerback and impending free agent Carlos Rogers would like to sign a long-term deal with the team.

Per Maiocco, the 49ers want to keep Rogers, but “at the right price”. Rogers also reportedly wants a deal done before free agency.

Analysis

Rogers is a quality corner, but he’s going on age 31 and the 49ers could opt to pluck a top corner with the 30th pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Or they could do both. A long-term deal for Rogers isn’t imminent, as the 49ers could also opt to slap their franchise tag on him to see if his solid play continues into next season.
