Trent Richardson Day-to-Day With Rib Injury

Nothing makes fantasy owners cringe more than hearing one of their players has a rib injury. But Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters on Monday, star rookie running back Trent Richardson’s right ribs cartilage injury is day-to-day heading into a week 7 matchup against the run-friendly Indianapolis Colts.
Obviously, Richardson owners should monitor his practice situation this week and keep an eye on the waiver wire for his backup, Montario Hardesty, just in case Richardson can’t go.
The injury comes the week the Browns announced they would increase T-Rich’s touches, and T-Rich owners watched in horror as he finished the game on the sidelines as Cleveland piled 34 points on the Cincinnati Bengals. Clearly the Browns’ fortunes run through the talented rookie, but they may want to think twice about his workload.
If you own Richardson in fantasy football, it’s a good reminder to check your depth at running back during this bye-week portion of the NFL schedule. If he’s active this week, we recommend you regard him as a flex play just to be safe.
