Fantasy Stock Watch: Ryan Mathews Continues to Ease Fantasy Owner's Doubts

Fantasy Football

Still on the fence on San Diego Chargers rookie running back Ryan Mathews? Perhaps his second straight solid preseason performance will help you forget about the departure of LaDainian Tomlinson, as well as the fact that the kid is a rookie.

After putting up 50 rushing yards on nine carries in his preseason debut a week ago, Mathews once again upped his fantasy stock with 53 rushing yards on just 12 attempts in game two, while adding a 13-yard catch.

We already like Mathews as a top-15 in our fantasy running back rankings, as he is currently ranked 13th overall. And before the preseason is over, he could just keep climbing.

Mathews couldn’t punch it in the end-zone on two tries near the goal-line in his second preseason game, but we don’t think that will hurt his value come Week One. Draft Mathews comfortably in your fantasy football draft, and ignore the fact that he’s a rookie.
