Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks: Monday Night Football Preview

Seattle Seahawks

Welcome back for week 3′s edition of Monday Night Football, as the Green Bay Packers (1-1) head to the loudest and biggest home-filed advantage stadium in the NFL to take on the Seattle Seahawks (1-1). When the spread on this game was released before the season started, it was Green Bay favored by 6 points, but when it was re-released on Monday Green Bay was only a 3 1/2 point favorite, based on Seattle’s win over Dallas last week coupled with the early season loss for the Packers. Since then the line has moved to Green Bay -3.

So far after 15 games having been played in week 3, I’ve been able to bounce back with a 10-5 record and now have boosted my overall record to 25-20-2 on the season.

Here are the Picks Against the Spread for Monday night. Home teams in ALL CAPS with lines courtesy of betus.com, with additional stats via bangthebook.com:

SEATTLE +3 over Green Bay

Seattle’s run defense is among the elite in the NFL, having only allowed 46 rushing yards per game after two weeks. Cedric Benson will have a hard time tonight trying to break the big one, so Aaron Rodgers will have to try and win this one through the air versus a physical front-four and a solid secondary. Playmakers Greg Jennings (groin) and Randall Cobb (hamstring) are expected to play tonight, which should help Rodgers in the passing game.

The key in this game is going to be Russell Wilson and how he responds to the pressure that the Packers are going to put on him. Running the ball early and effectively with Marshawn Lynch will keep the Green Bay defense honest.

It has been a crazy Week 3 in the NFL already, with eight underdogs winning the game straight-up.

Prediction:

Seattle is 14-3-1 against the spread over their last 18 home September games, as well as having an 8-1 record ATS during that same time frame as an home-underdog. I’ll take the points with Seattle but the Packers to win the game, 21-20.
