Jaguars Expected to Protect Themselves in Regards to Justin Blackmon’s Contract

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested for a DUI on Sunday, and the repercussions are just now coming in.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via SportsCenter, the Jaguars plan on “making adjustments” to Blackmon’s rookie deal (which has yet to be signed) that will “have language” that will protect the team in the event of another DUI or off-field instance that could affect the receiver’s status with the team.

It’s just talk until it happens, but Jacksonville would be foolish not to protect themselves at this point, and it’s Blackmon’s own fault for making his first NFL mistake before he was even officially under contract.

Blackmon reportedly blew a 0.24 blood alcohol level, which was nearly three times the legal limit in Oklahoma.

Already a fantasy risk with Blaine Gabbert as his starting quarterback, Blackmon’s fantasy stock probably takes another dip with a potential suspension looming.
