Jake Locker Looks Sharp Against Vikings
Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Jake Locker was impressive in his pro debut against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night, completing 7-of-10 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.
While he didn’t have the chance to show off his elite athleticism in terms of running, he did display improved pocket presence and accuracy. Locker’s touchdown came on a beautiful 45-yard bomb to Yamon Figurs.
For a rookie that many draft experts deemed as inaccurate and a mess in the pocket, Locker’s first pro game was a complete success. He still has work to do and likely won’t see any action in 2011 behind Matt Hasselbeck, but his future looks very bright.
The Titans have never been quiet about their intent to play veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck for as long as possible, and then hand the keys to the offense over to Locker in 2012. However, if what we saw tonight is any indication, Locker could make an impact in fantasy football if he’s thrust into action in 2011.
