Jets vs. Patriots Week 7: Ground and Pound to Major Tom (Jets Oddity)

This week the New York Jets take on the vaunted division rival the New England Patriots. The undermanned “Ground and Pound” Jets actually go into Gilette Stadium as the division leaders (according to way early tiebreakers) in the all 3-3 AFC East.
As he does every week, Tom McFeeley re-writes a popular or famous song based on the weekly matchup of his beloved Jets. This week he spoofs David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” in which “ground control” and “Major Tom” communicate back and forth through an emerging problem in Major Tom’s spaceship. Tom (McFeeley – not Brady or Major Tom) is calling his version “Ground and Pound to Major Tom” as he envisions the trash-talking Jets teasing Tom Brady, and of course Tom Brady doesn’t shy away from replying.
The You Tube video of the actual song (lyrics below the video also) is below if you want to follow along:
NFL Soup presents “Jets Oddity” Or “Ground and Pound to Major Tom”
Ground and Pound to Major Tom
Ground and Pound to Major Tom
Take your hormone pills
And put your helmet on
Ground and Pound to Major Tom
Commencing breakdown
Filmstrips on
Check Edelman
And may Bill’s love be with you
Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, Picked off
This is Ground and Pound
To Major Tom
You really make the back page
And the papers want to know whose skirts you wear
Now it’s time to heave to Woodhead
If you dare
This is Major Tom to Ground and Pound
I’m blowing off your doors
And I’m floating
A spiral in a most peculiar way
And the stars are all on my team today.
For here
Am I sitting with my rings on
Far above the Jets
Rex’s mood is blue
And there’s nothing you can do
Though I’m past
One hundred thousand yards
I’m feeling very skilled
And I think my tight ends know which way to go
Tell Giselle I love her very much
She knows
Ground and Pound to Major Tom
Your season’s dead
There’s something wrong.
Can you hear us Major Tom?
Can you hear us Major Tom?
Can you hear us Major Tom?
Can you….
Here am I throwing
To every open man
Far above your D
Rex’s mood is blue
And there’s nothing you can do
