Matt Schaub Done For Season With Foot Injury

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Twitter, Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will miss the remainder of the 2011 NFL season with a foot injury.

Schaub reportedly has a Lisfranc injury to his right foot, and could take up to 10 months to fully recover. The injury is a major blow to the Texans’ 7-3 playoff chances, while backup Matt Leinart will take over for Schaub and try to keep the team afloat.

Fantasy Analysis

Shocking news, to say the least. Fantasy owners have to move on quickly. If you need waiver wire advice, Carson Palmer and Christian Ponder make good sense, while Andy Dalton, Alex Smith, and maybe even Rex Grossman could be stop-gaps. Although Houston figures to be very run-heavy initially, new starter Matt Leinart could also be worth a look. This is bad news for the Texans’ playoff hopes, and even worse news for Houston fantasy options not named Arian Foster. Look for Ben Tate’s value to climb a bit with the Texans expected to run the ball even more going forward.
