Mike McCoy Becomes Chargers Next Head Coach

scs

Now that the Broncos season has come to a close following that double overtime thriller against the Ravens last Saturday, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy can move on to the next stage in his coaching career.

After interviewing with the Cardinals and Chargers, McCoy decided that he would stay classy and go to San Diego.

Mark Sessler of NFL.com reports that McCoy has reached a deal with the Chargers to become their next head coach. He replaces Norv Turner, who was fired after six seasons with the team.

McCoy was the Broncos offensive coordinator for the past four years, reaching the playoffs the last two seasons with quarterbacks Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning at the helm. With the Chargers, he’ll have a veteran in Philip Rivers, which likely was a huge factor in choosing them over the Cardinals.

The two games the Broncos and Chargers will play in 2013 as AFC West rivals just got a lot more interesting.
