Mike Wallace to Potentially Join Steelers on Tuesday
According to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala’s twitter, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace is expected to join the team on Tuesday.
Kinkhawala stated earlier on Monday, “Two teammates tell me Mike Wallace is/will be on a plane to Pittsburgh tonight and reporting to the Steelers tomorrow.”
Of course, we will know for sure if her sources were being truthful to her on Tuesday, or if they were just giving her, and Steelers fans around the world a bit of false hope.
Thanks to Antonio Brown this preseason, the Mike Wallace holdout has been less severe than originally anticipated as Brown shows big time play making ability, much like what Wallace has demonstrated in his last two seasons.
Still, the return of Mike Wallace to the Steelers would be huge for the team, offense and especially Ben Roethlisberger who still does not look to get ideal protection from his offensive line during the early stages of the season.
If Wallace does indeed return, he would have picked a great day as it gives him over a week and a half to get back into rhythm for Pittsburgh, while also letting Wallace fantasy owners let out a gigantic sigh of relief.
I fully expect Wallace to have a fantastic season, but I still see Antonio Brown and even Emmanuel Sanders taking a few catches away from him here and there. The situation in Pittsburgh is a good one with Wallace potentially back, as they have three legit play making receivers, and of course a veteran quarterback who finds ways to get the ball into their hands consistently.
On the flip side, if Wallace continues to hold out and misses any game time (which we feel is highly unlikely), look for Antonio Brown’s fantasy value to skyrocket even more.
