Monday Night Football Fantasy Versus: New York Jets vs. Tennessee Titans

New York Jets

Can you actually trust in Mark Sanchez tonight?

For many fantasy owners, or maybe even most, week 15 is the end of another beautiful fantasy football season. And whether you’re in your league’s title game or the “bowl” to get out of dead last, you probably want to win. And since there is one last game on the schedule for the week, there’s a decent chance you may be struggling over your final roster decision.

If that’s the case, just check out our Monday Night Football fantasy breakdown between the Jets and Titans. And if you’re still rolling in your fantasy league come week 16 or week 17, just keep hitting up nflsoup.com for more fantasy advice.

For now, on to the week 15 MNF matchups:

Quarterbacks

Mark Sanchez (Jets) vs. Jake Locker (Titans)

I know Jake Locker has the bigger arm and is more athletic, but I have a feeling about Sanchez tonight. He’s facing a weak Titans defense, gets Braylon Edwards back, and despite some awful outings, is kind of due for a solid game. He’s known for coming out of nowhere with an awesome week, and the Titans could help him do that tonight. I’d start Sanchez.

Running Backs

Shonn Greene (Jets) vs. Chris Johnson (Titans)

Greene is probably safer in terms of role, as the Jets have the better matchup and love to pound the rock with the ground game, but you can’t pass on CJ2k if you own him. The fact is, he’s much more explosive and you need to roll with potential when your season is on the line. Go with Johnson tonight.

Wide Receivers

Kenny Britt (Titans) vs. Jeremy Kerley (Jets)

Britt owns all in this one. I don’t love his chances against Antonio Cromartie, but this is a big stage and he did go off for 8 receptions and 140+ yards a week ago. He has the most upside here, so you have to play him. Kerley comes in second, as he’s New York’s top receiver (whatever that means), and the matchup does bode well for him.

Kendall Wright (Titans) vs. Nate Washington (Titans) vs. Chaz Schilens (Jets) vs. Clyde Gates (Jets) vs. Braylon Edwards (Jets)

Wright gets targeted a good amount, so he comes in third tonight. Washington is inconsistent, but he can also get involved and has proven in the past he can make plays. I’m taking freshly signed Braylon Edwards over Washington and every other Jets receiver, though (not Kerley), because I just have a feeling about him and this matchup.

Tight Ends

Craig Stevens (Titans) vs. Jeff Cumberland (Jets)

Both of these guys are trash and aren’t great locks to get more than two catches. Dustin Keller is likely out tonight (if not, you’d have to go with him), while Jared Cook is on injured reserve. I’m going with Cumberland just because the matchup better suits him. Neither of these guys can be counted on to save you tonight.

Kickers

Nick Folk (Jets) vs. Rob Bironas (Titans)

This one is probably a toss-up, but I have to side with the more explosive offense, and that’s Tennessee. Folk could help you out this week, but Bironas is more widely known as a reliable kicker, and his O does carry more upside. I’d rather roll with Bironas.

Team Defenses

New York Jets vs. Tennessee Titans

This one has to be New York. I know the Jets stink on offense, but Tennessee isn’t a model of offensive consistency and Jake Locker has been a turnover machine the past several weeks. In fact, the Jets have actually looked quite good on D the past couple of weeks.
