Monday Night Football: Picking Tonight’s Games Against the Spread
There are two Monday night games to pick tonight, with the Baltimore Ravens versus the Cincinnati Bengals, and in the night-cap the San Diego Chargers playing the Oakland Raiders.

I was the only one to pick the Bengals to win straight-up in our NFL Week 1 Writer Picks, so there’s no debate in who I like tonight. Cincinnati played the Ravens very tough last season, they lost both game, but they were close games that were decided in the forth quarter. The addition of BenJarvus Green-Ellis during the offseason is a big reason as to why I like the Bengals. He is a hard-nosed runner who never fumbles the ball.
Baltimore was a hot pick for a lot of people to make it to the Super Bowl out of the AFC this year, but I was not one of those people. I do believe they should be one of the teams competing for one of the last playoff spots however. Ray Rice is a stud, on the other hand I still have questions about Joe Flacco and their aging defense.
The Bengals are 4-1-1 against the spread over the past six games when playing Baltimore. I’ll roll with the Bengals, 20-17.
OAKLAND -1 over San Diego
It’s all about Darren McFadden tonight. McFadden is always going to be an injury risk, but right now he’s healthy and will carry the load for the Raiders tonight. San Diego was near the bottom of the NFL last season in rushing yards allowed, in giving up over 120 yards per game, so McFadden should have a field day tonight.
The other running back who is being talked about is Ryan Mathews (collarbone) who is out for Monday’s game for San Diego. Ronnie Brown will get the start tonight, who hasn’t been relevant in quite some time. Philip Rivers could have a nice game, but not enough to beat the Raiders.
Oakland is 5-1 ATS in their last six games against San Diego. Give me the Raiders, 26-17.
