Can Stewart break through against the tough Steelers run defense?
Jonathan Stewart isn’t going anywhere.
The 25-year-old running back will join DeAngelo Williams in the backfield for years to come, as Stewart and the Carolina Panthers agreed to a five-year extension, reports Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports via his Twitter account that the deal is worth $36.5 million with $22.5 million guaranteed.
In four seasons with the Panthers, Stewart has rushed for 3,500 yards and 26 touchdowns.

The long-term deal could mean the passing of the torch from DeAngelo Williams to Jonathan Stewart could finally happen. It could happen slowly, but Stewart has proven to be the more versatile and efficient back, and is also the better red-zone runner. He already has more value than Williams in fantasy leagues and could carry solid RB2 value right away in 2012.
