Bill Parcells Won’t Coach Saints

Despite much speculation, The Big Tuna won’t be coaching in The Big Easy.
As I reported last week that Bill Parcells coming out of retirement to coach the New Orleans Saints was unlikely to happen, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen confirmed the notion Tuesday on his Twitter account. Instead, Parcells will remain retired.
Now the question becomes, who will coach the Saints in 2012?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports on his Twitter account that, despite being suspended for the beginning of the season, assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt will likely be the interim head coach, taking the place of Sean Payton, who’s season-long suspension begins on April 16th.
Vitt will serve out his six-game suspension for his role in the Saints bounty scandal, then would return to the team with more than half the season remaining if he does in fact get promoted to that position. However, it is unknown who would serve that role for those first six games, but as done with Vitt, that person would presumably be from within the organization.
It is all just another chapter in the craziest story of this offseason.
