Peyton Manning Looks Like Peyton Manning in Preseason Debut
He didn’t throw any deep balls and he didn’t score a touchdown, but Peyton Manning resembled his old self in his preseason debut with the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
The 36-year old Manning finished just 4-of-7 for 44 yards and an interception, but he showed fantastic zip on a 19-yard completion to Eric Decker, and was mostly in control of the offense as he put the Broncos into scoring position before throwing a pick.
The interception was the result of slightly throwing behind Brandon Stokley, but was arguably only half the quarterback’s fault. For his first game back, Manning could have fared a lot worse, while his arm strength looked plenty fine despite only throwing seven passes.
We’ll know more as the preseason goes on, but Manning looked as comfortable as ever in the pocket, and looked to have command of his new offense. It might take a little time to get completely synced up with all of his new weapons, but that’s nothing a few more preseason games can’t fix. Manning is still a reasonable bargain QB1 in fantasy drafts.
