Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans: Thursday Night Football Preview
The Pittsburgh Steelers finally got some key players back on both sides of the ball in last weeks game, but Troy Polamalu (calf) was re-injured and will miss tonight’s match-up. Jake Locker (shoulder) is out for the second consecutive week for the Tennessee Titans, so old man Matt Hasselbeck will draw the start once again.
So far so good in our NFL Picks Against the Spread this season, as I’m currently sporting a record of 42-33-2 after five weeks, and have a 9-5-1 record in the three primetime games that are played every week.
Let’s take a look at who I like and why in our Thursday Night Football Pick Against the Spread. Betting line is courtesy of betus.com/pa, with additional info at bangthebook.com:
Pittsburgh -6 over TENNESSEE
After five weeks of the NFL season, I have picked the Titans a total of three times to cover the spread, and in all three of those instances they have failed to cover the spread. Now, the two times I picked against them I have one won and lost one. What does all that mean? It basically means I was wrong about Tennessee. I really thought their offense would be able to keep games close, and that their defense would not be the laughing stock of the league, like it currently is.
We all know what the Steelers are, they are going to be around at the end of the year like always battling for the AFC North crown. We also knew that their defense would take a step back after being a year older at the key positions, as evidence by allowing 65 total points in their two losses this season. But the one aspect of the Steelers that I am surprised by is the explosive plays their offense seems to be showing. I realized they only scored 16 points last week, albeit against a good defense in Philadelphia, but they could have easily put up 10-13 more points if Mike Wallace wouldn’t have dropped three key passes.
Pittsburgh is 8-4 against the spread when playing Tennessee over the past twelve games.
I expect this to be a high scoring game, with the Steelers winning, 34-24.
