Rams Land Cortland Finnegan For Five Years
New St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher will be seeing a familiar face on defense from his days with the Tennessee Titans.
According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams and cornerback Cortland Finnegan agreed to a five-year, $50 million contract on Tuesday, the first official day of NFL free agency. The six-year veteran should be an instant contributor to a defense that finished in the bottom-half of the league overall last season.
The aggressive (and sometimes too aggressive) Finnegan is an excellent cover corner and is not afraid of any receiver. However, he has been known to let his emotions get the best of him at times, being fined three times for on the field incidents in his career.
Finnegan has been both an All-Pro and Pro Bowler once, back in 2008. A former seventh-round pick by the Titans in 2006, he only missed three games in his six years in Tennessee. Finnegan has 473 total tackles, 14 interceptions, six sacks and three forced fumbles in his career.
