San Francisco 49ers Thinking Extension With Tight End Vernon Davis?

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly in talks with star tight end, Vernon Davis, about a possible contract extension.

Davis burst onto the scene in 2010 after three average season in San Francisco, working magic with Alex Smith down the stretch of the 2009 season, finishing with 78 receptions, nearly 1,000 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns.

The proposed deal is expected to be somewhere within the four-year, $40 million dollar range.

Fantasy Perspective: It seems the days of Davis being benched are well behind him, and even Mike Singletary is firmly buying his value as an eplosive (and legit) star tight end in the NFL.

Once the contract is completed, respect Davis as a top-five tight end, and if Smith can make the strides expected out of a former number one overall pick, Davis could chase numbers much like what he achieved in 2009.
