St. Louis Rams Sign Safety O.J. Atogwe to Multi-Year Deal

According to NFL.com and ProFootballTak.com, the St. Louis Rams and free agent star safety, O.J. Atogwe, have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract, keeping the defensive back in Missouri for the next five years.

Atogwe’s mission for freedom in free agency was finally completed when the Rams allowed him to surf the NFL waters freely this summer, although to his dismay, no other clubs found his services as inviting as he thought they would.

Despite being one of the league’s better safeties, many teams simply felt that Atogwe’s style just didn’t mesh well with their current system. In the end, both Atogwe, his agent, and the Rams agreed that St. Louis was the best place for Atogwe to earn a paycheck and use his abilities.

The Rams avoid a crushing blow to a defense that is still looking to turn the corner and help the struggling franchise to get back to a competitive, if even mediocre, level.
