Sunday Night Football Versus: Steelers vs. Broncos
The Peyton Manning era is set to begin Sunday night in Denver, as the Pittsburgh Steelers head to the mile high city to take on the Denver Broncos. Manning will be making his first regular season start for the Broncos and his first start since the 2010 NFL season in the playoffs.
On the other side, the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to be without starting running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) and will have to rely on Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer to carry the load.

Quarterbacks
Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) vs. Peyton Manning (Broncos)
Peyton Manning’s first start is not going to be an easy one considering Pittsburgh’s elite defense. Both players should be considered low-end No 1. QB’s this week, but I’m going to go ahead and pick Manning to have the better game out of the two. He might not be fully healthy, and he might not ever be, but just watching him throw the ball in the preseason gives me more confidence.
Running Backs
Isaac Redman (Steelers) vs. Jonathan Dwyer (Steelers) vs. Willis McGahee (Broncos)
Redman (ankle) is listed as probable for tonight’s game, but there are some concerns regarding that injured ankle, and Jonathan Dwyer could be the benefactor. I actually look for Dwyer to see the most action of the two running backs in this game.
You know McGahee is going to get the bulk of the carries for Denver, with Knowshon Moreno backing him up in limited action.
I’ll go ahead and rank them McGahee, Dwyer and Redman, but don’t expect to see a big game from any of these backs.
Wide Receivers
Antonio Brown (Steelers) vs. Mike Wallace (Steelers) vs. Eric Decker (Broncos) vs. Demaryius Thomas (Broncos)
Once again I had to group all of these players together, as they should all be starting in most leagues this week. However, Mike Wallace is the biggest question mark heading into this game, since he missed all of the preseason games after holding out. I’m not overly concerned about him, but you have to wonder about his conditioning, especially as the game goes on.
Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas saw their value rocket straight up after Manning signed in Denver in the offseason. I like both players this season, more so Decker, but Thomas will have plenty of value as well.
For tonight’s game I’ll rank them Brown, Decker, Thomas, and Wallace.
Tight Ends
Heath Miller (Steelers) vs. Jacob Tamme (Broncos) vs. Joel Dreessen (Broncos)
I added Dressen to the mix just because I think he has some value in deeper leagues. Everyone knows Manning loves to involve his tight ends in the passing game, so I thought it was warranted. Tamme though still has the most value out of these three players, with Miller ranking as the second best option, and Dreessen third.
Kickers
Matt Prater (Broncos) vs. Shaun Suisham (Steelers)
It’s Prater, and it’s not even close. Prater has made 12-of-16 field goals of 50 plus yards in his career, which is the best percentage in NFL history.
Team Defenses
Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST vs. Denver Broncos D/ST
Pittsburgh’s defense was drafted as one of the top 5 defenses in fantasy, so there’s no doubt that if you drafted them, you’re starting them. I will go with the Steelers D/ST, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Denver’s D/ST ranked in the top 10 this week.

Normally I would choose Manning over Roethisberger any day of the week, but this being his first real game at the helm of the Bronco’s offence could bring troubles.
