Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Minnesota Vikings: Pick and Preview
The Minnesota Vikings (5-2) will seek to continue their winning ways on Thursday Night Football when they take on the very physical Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4). The Game can be seen on NFL Network at 5:20 pm est.
The line on this game opened up with Minnesota being favored by 6 points, and it has been as high as 6 1/2 points when I was looking at it yesterday. Today however, the line has dropped all the way down to the Vikings being favored by 5 points, while 53% of the betting public is on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In week 7 I went 7-5-1 against the spread, which in turn brings my overall record on the season, 58-43-3 ATS.
Here is our Thursday Night Football Pick and Preview for Week 8, betting line is courtesy of betus.com/pa, with additional information being provided by bangthebook.com:
MINNESOTA -5 over Tampa Bay
Although the Bucs are two games under .500, they do have a winning record against the spread 4-2, however Minnesota comes into the game with a 2-1-1 record ATS in four home games this season.
Head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Greg Schiano, might not have the record that he wanted early this year, but one thing is for certain is that he always gets the best out of his players. They play hard, they never give in, and they might be one of the best tackling teams in the NFL. Their defense which has been underrated all season, is giving up on average only 76 rushing yards per game, which is good for third best in the NFL.
Minnesota might be one of the bigger surprises this season thus far. At 5-2 they are only a half game out of first place in the NFC North behind the Chicago Bears. Adrian Peterson seems like he is back to being the old Adrian Peterson, as he is on pace for his second best season in terms of rushing yards in his career (1490).
The home team is 9-2-1 ATS in there last 12 meetings between these two teams.
I like the Vikings to win outright and cover the spread, 27-20.
