The League, S4, E11: “12-12-12″ Ready for “Prime Time”
The second of two new episodes of “The League” on Dec. 13, “12-12-12” is a reference to Rafi believing the world would end on 12/12/12 (Yes, I know, Facebook made us all so tired to the 12/12/12 thing, but this episode is worth enduring that).
The episode opens with Andre giving an “MTV Cribs”-style tour of his new apartment, which works for a few laughs. He begins dating (while also paying) his decorator (they tell me she’s from Glee, but I can’t watch even 2 minutes of that show, so I’ll just trust them).
The gang is disturbed by both her decorating style and that they feel she is fleecing Andre financially; they resort to a plan where they pretend to enjoy Andre’s style to see if he will dump Trixie Von Stein, his girlfriend/decorator. Obviously the plan doesn’t work, but the get-ups the guys wear are hilarious.
The buyer of Andre’s old loft turns out to be Deion Sanders, who turns in one of the best guest appearances in more than one scene. Seth Rogen also returns to the show, making an all-too-brief appearance as Dirty Randy – he and Rafi make a Mayan-themed porn in the loft. The scene in which Dirty Randy thinks Prime Time is the male porn actor is very funny.
Meanwhile, Jenny makes a great trash-talking message board video about how she will beat Kevin (in graphic Ruxin-esque terms of violence and sodomy). Her 8-year-old Ellie overhears her and thinks she plans on hurting Kevin. Kevin does turn out to sustain injuries, rushing to pick up Michael Bush before Jenny can.
Jenny of course defeats Kevin, causing one of his famous crying rants; Ellie gets concerned and calls 911. Personally, I didn’t think the 911 part of the story line worked, but I don’t think domestic violence humor is ever appropriate. Even if it were, it still fell short I think.
The montage of the guys’ “shopping day” with Andre is completely worth watching multiple times and the “world’s oldest boy band” images last in your head, for better or worse.

You can’t watch a show like the League, and all the fucked up/mean humor they show, and whine about DV.
