Thursday Night Football Fantasy Versus | Week 16
For the fourth straight week, it seems that we will be treated to a less than anticipated match-up for Thursday Night Football. The Houston Texans will travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts for their Week 16 divisional game.
Houston has already locked up the AFC South title and currently sit third in the AFC playoff picture. Still without pro-bowl wide receiver, Andre Johnson this week, Houston will be leaning heavily on their two featured backs, Arian Foster and Ben Tate.
The Colts are coming off of their first win of the season last week versus the Tennessee Titans. If you’re a Indianapolis fan, there’s no doubt you should not be rooting for your team to pull out a win this week, with Andrew Luck on the horizon.
There are few players in this game that you can actually count on, but if you’re struggling with any sit/start questions, take a look at our Week 16 Thursday Night Fantasy Versus column:
Quarterbacks
T.J. Yates (Texans) vs. Dan Orlovsky (Colts)
Rookie T.J. Yates really struggled last week versus the Panthers and only scored 5 fantasy points, after scoring 19 the week before. Orlovsky has a brutal match-up, as Houston has allowed the second fewest passing yards in the NFL and aregiving up the 29th most fantasy points to quarterbacks. You’re not going to start anyone of these guys, but if you hold a gun to my head, go with Yates.
Running Backs
Arian Foster (Texans) vs. Donald Brown (Colts)
It’s Foster hands down. Brown did have a good game last week though with, 161 rushing yards and a touchdown. Brown can be used in deeper leagues this week, but it will be a tough match-up versus the Texans, who are allowing the second fewest fantasy points to running backs this season.
Ben Tate (Texans) vs. Delone Carter (Colts) vs. Joesph Addai (Colts)
The Colts have really struggled against the run this season, and are allowing and average of 22 points to opposing running backs so far. Tate is your guy out of this bunch, followed by Addai and Carter, but neither of those two Indy running backs should be considered this week.
Wide Receivers
Pierre Garcon (Colts) vs. Reggie Wayne (Colts) vs. Kevin Walter (Texans) vs. Jacoby Jones (Texans)
We might as well just group all of these receivers together, since none of them are recommended in week 16. Garcon might be your best bet out of this bunch for a big game, but Garcon has been wildly inconsistent this season. I would rank them Garcon, Wayne, Walter, and Jones.
Tight Ends
Owen Daniels (Texans) vs. Joel Dreesen (Texans) vs. Jacob Tamme (Colts)
Daniels (knee) is expected to be a game-time decision for Thursday nights game. Early reports are that, Daniels will work out pre-game, but if he doesn’t look right he won’t play. With Dallas Clark not expected to play, Tamme will get his second straight start, but he should be left on the waiver wire this week. I’ll take Dreesen out of these players.
Kickers
Neil Rackers (Texans) vs. Adam Vinatieri (Colts)
Houston should be in Indianapolis territory all game long and Rackers should get a few field goal attempts in this game. Vinatieri has only missed three field goals this season, but he simply doesn’t get enough chances. Go with Rackers.
Team Defenses
Houston Texans Team Defense vs. Indianapolis Colts Team Defense
