Vikings Prefer Christian Ponder Over Peyton Manning
The Minnesota Vikings spent two off-seasons chasing a future Hall of Famer before. Once it worked, and the other time it didn’t. In the case of Peyton Manning, the Vikings aren’t willing to find out.
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Vikings are content with quarterbacks Christian Ponder and Joe Webb, and will not joing the other 12 reported teams that are interested in signing the former Colts quarterback.
Ponder was an interception-machine and Webb isn’t really your typical quarterback, but Minnesota invested a high first-round in Ponder in 2011, and won’t be giving up on him that quickly.
It’s just as well, as Manning wasn’t likely to give the Vikings much of a shot. Minnesota has huge holes in their defense and offensive line, and may not have a healthy Adrian Peterson to start the season.
